“Running is the purest sport there is. It will always be my most favorite form of exercise as nothing else makes me feel as free and alive.”

A former military brat, Debbie moved to Ogden in 1988 to run at WSU. She fell in love with the mountains and with her husband (Guy) and stayed in Ogden. She is the mother of three boys and 2 girls and is “the not so silent ‘silent’ partner at Salt Lake Running Co.”

Debbie,
I saw your profile online and figured I would go to the expert for advice. I’m a 30 year old formerly well conditioned college athlete. I previously have run two marathons (running at nearly 6:00/mile pace). I now coach basketball, and have been in good physical condition periodically, but have still maintained a smoking habit. I have recently challenged a former player of mine that I could beat him in the mile run. Whether I do or not, I think it is a good way for me to stay focused on a fitness goal and drop this disgusting habit. Today was my 2nd day running the mile – I finished at 8:12. I would like to set my sights on a 5:00 minute mile. Our race is scheduled for August 28th – which gives me 6 weeks to get to work. What advice do you have in helping me get there?

Debbie,
I’m looking for some professional, diet/nutrition advice – more less a work up of my needs and then a diet plan to match based on my training and racing schedule? Is this a service that you offer or can you send me in the right direction?
